Hi Keith,

i'm sorry to hear that. I hope they are adjusting, have they had it long? Are they able to use their peripheral vision? How serious is it now? Is it progressing quickly? I understand it affects everyone differently. Are your daughters working outside the home (so to speak)? I guess that is my biggest concern for Our son and the two younger children should they have this disease.

I had trouble since I was at least 12, but it was never diagnosed till lately. It is certainly not the doctor's fault, I just adjusted so I never went often enough to my eye doctor. I have used my peripheral vision for years; however, it come as a shock that my vision went from 75/20 to 200/20 in just three years. Stargardt's isn't a pcnic, but there could be worse things to have. I don't think one can go "black" blind with this disease, but I am still re-searching the subject. I tell my son (age 12) that science is procressing with leaps and bounds and perhaps, by God's grace, a cure will be found or some more understanding will be available before too long.

For the time being, we just take one day at a time.

Debbie
