Since I posted my first message, alot has happened. I had an appointment with the low vision specialist which led to many other avenues of assistance, giving me some hope. For so long, I would see many different doctors and leave with nothing but a confirmation of my disease and that there was nothing that could be done. This is the first time in 4 years that I have this much useful information. I have learned about the many devices available as well as rehabilitation services provided by the Commission for the Blind and Lighthouse for the Blind. I am taking baby steps through this. Facing it head on can be very emotionally draining. Unfortunately, I just found out that my poor vision has progressed enough that I am now driving illegally. Knowing that I must stop driving is hitting me like a ton of bricks. I feel like I am grieving a loss. i never dreamed that I would be facing this at 25 years old. But, I draw so much strength from God and my family. I have a wonderful husband and three beautiful children. It's hard to feel sad when I am with them. Currently, I am a stay at home mom. I love spending time with my family, friends, and church and school activities. I hope to return to work when my children are in school full time. I am interested in pursuing teaching pre-k. I live in Texas. It has been so helpful to read these messages. Thanks for sharing. Best of luck to you!
